Tag Along Time
Last weekend, the On Track Hiking Team took some walkers out on a 11.2km return walk along the Bibbulmun Track to the Mt Cooke campsite. The walkers had seen our free tag along day offer on our website (see "Join Us!" panel directly below our banner) and decided to give it a try.
We met at the Bibbulmun Track information shelter at Sullivan Rock at 10am. After introductions we tried on some backpacks, loaded them up with gear that would be typical for an overnight walk and set off for Mt Cooke. Along the way we talked about the history of the Bibbulmun Track, the trail markers, boot cleaning stations (with a quick demonstration) and the guide books & map available for this section of the Track.
Once we arrived at the campsite we had a cup of coffee where Dave showed the walkers the log books at the shelter, sleeping arrangements, toilets and water tanks. We also discussed the "Groups on Track" information available from the Bibbulmun Track Foundation & DEC websites to assist with future overnight trip planning.
The walk back was just as entertaining as the walk there. We arrived safely back at our cars around 2pm. Thank you to our guests - you were great company! We hope to see you on the Bibbulmun Track soon!
