Sullivan Rock pounded!
Wow! I can't believe the amount of traffic on the Bibbulmun Track today! I was out doing some survey work from 11am to 2pm (for the Bibbulmun Foundation) and was amazed at how many people were walking the track. Most were day walkers and most chose to take the more difficult route over Mt Vincent and Mt Cuthbert. Around 20 people passed me in my 3 hr shift - that was apparently nothing compared to the reported numbers before I had got there.
It is great to see people getting out in the fresh air and hiking for pleasure. Sullivan Rock appears to be a popular access point (judging by the comments from the survey) to the Track. Also pleasing is the general view that the Bibb Track requires little or no improvement. Well done to the Bibbulmun Foundation.
I just hope we aren't loving the Track to death. Reports on the number of people staying at the huts at one time would indicate some huts are under continual pressure. Not sure on the actual data the survey is trying to collect, but I'm sure the Foundation will look at Track and Hut usage.
Happy hiking!
