TOP WALK # 3 - DRIVER RD CROSSING TO DWELLINGUP

DISTANCE:  45.7 kms

CAMPSITES: Dookanelly (Friday night - Optional), Murray (Saturday) & Swamp Oak (Sunday)

DIFFICULTY: Hard - on the basis of the distance covered and hilly terrain.

OVERVIEW: Driver Rd Crossing is accessed via the Nanga Rd heading south from Dwellingup.  The Bibbulmun Track crosses Driver Rd just north of the crossing (check conditions with DEC before leaving).  If you arrive Friday evening, head south to Dookanelly Campsite (3.6 kms or < 1hr walk).  This will provide a good base from which to commence your journey.  Alternatively, camp at Driver Rd Crossing - there is a good campsite on the right hand side before the crossing. 

The walk to Murray Campsite is 14.2 km.  It is a hilly walk, however the reward is the campsite situated high on the banks of the Murray River.  Sunday is a 18.6 km walk to Swamp Oak campsite which is located not far from Charlie's Flat campground at Nanga.  This section is also hilly but very picturesque.  The walk into Dwellingup is the shortest for the weekend at 13 km.  Some great views as you descend through the pine plantations.
