Damage to Gringer Creek

While the bush drums are beating, I may as well share some other disappointing news about one of the Bibbulmun Track campsites - Gringer Creek.

This hut is the last before crossing Albany Highway for Dwellingup just up the road from the North Bannister Roadhouse.  It is one of the most accessible huts being close to roads and the roadhouse itself.  It is one of my favourite campsites (due to the little bandicoot that lives nearby and visits you in the evening).  I have however been there to find bikers and empty jim bean cans and rubbish strewn about.  Unfortunately, these "dickheads" have gone one step further.

My reports say that the water tank, hut and a nearby tree were given some unfavourable treatment with an axe.  This happened late October 09 but Im also told repairs have been undertaken and things are fixed.

Hats off the Bibbulmun Track Foundation all those years ago for building these campsites in locations the average moron cant find.  I would hate to think what could have comfronted some of my female clients if they had been there.  I certainly promote the Bibbulmun Track as a safe environment but seems some are spoiling that for us.

The onus is on all of us to report all activity seen on the Bibbulmun Track or at any of its huts that is not connected to hiking.  I know the Bibbulmun Track Foundation openly encourage the reporting of such activities.  If you dont want to contact them direct, please tell me and I will happily pass on the details.

Perhaps we could train those ticks, mentioned in my other blog to attack the losers who have nothing better top do that cause damage.  Wouldnt that be nice!
